Assumption :

If the Average Basketball retirement age is 40 years, Can this be extended through following fitness routine, muscle exercises, proper diet etc?

Between 35 to 40 if the player remains healthy and in shape.

According to another source:

The average retirement age for an NBA player is in the mid-thirties, 36-39 years. Only a few players have managed to play past the age of 40. In fact, out of the 4000 players who have ever played in the NBA, only 27 continued playing when they were 40.

Thanks.

Which Basketball legend/s player/s has/had the maximum age before retiring from the game?

Can the retirement age of 40 years for Basketball players be extended by following proper fitness routine, muscle exercises, diet etc?

Take example of LeBron James whose current age is 35 years.

Do you feel he will / can continue playing Basketball beyond 45 years ?

LeBron James remains fit with stamina, muscle power, agility etc beyond 45 years, so this can be achieved by him?

The oldest player ever to play in the NBA was Nat Hickey who played one game in the 1947–48 season when he was 45 years and 363 days old. Hickey, who was coaching the Providence Steamrollers at the time, decided to activate himself and played in a game for the Steamrollers.

More recently, we have Vince Carter - one of my favorites. He is current 43 years old, and retired this year.

In reference to Lebron, yes he is 35, and in shape, but training at the professional level gets significantly harder leading up to 40. So we can't make the assumption that he'll preform the same. Also, many of these superstars have an ego, they don't want to show a declining performance for their fans due to their age, so they retire while still ahead of everyone else. Champions like to retire while they're at the top so to leave a legacy behind.

He was in shape and in demand throughout the league. His expertise on-and-off the court was valued by my teams, hence he kept playing and could still put up points.

Thank you.

At the age of 43 years, Vince Carter was playing well, so why he retired from the game?

Is it due to family commitments?

I'm assuming it's because the league shut down due to the virus, and it was time for him to move on and spend time with his family. Eventually around that age your career becomes less important to you, whether you're an athlete or a teacher. People usually reach their peak of interest in their career at about 40 anyway.
