https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lens

What type of lens are used in Smartphones & Microscope devices?

Concave or Convex?

Can they be interchangeable i.e. as an alternative to other in the above devices?

Can a Smartphone work as a Microscope with change in its design & construction supporting slides, focus, magnification etc?

Thanks & Regards,

Thanks.

Also designing & developing Smartphone apps if required for Microscope features & functions.

To date, typical smartphone cameras use a fixed focal length lens structure, where the lens is assembled on top of an image sensor having its optical axis positioned orthogonally to the sensor plane. This camera structure does not support changing the focal length and can only provide digital zoom.

Before it reaches the sensor, however - which is what you're curiously about - instead of passing through just one lens (either convex or concave), light has to pass through an array of concave and convex lenses that converge and diverge it before it reaches the focal point (as shown). This is done to sharpen the image.

Can a cellphone be used to magnify an image-- Yes.

Thank you.

So it is feasible for Smartphone devices to work as a Microscope device with Research & Development in Design & Construction changes as well as app design & development?

No, because they're limited. I'd rather have an actual microscope, it has much better magnification. Some light microscopes can magnify to 1000x, cellphone attachments aren't that sophisticated.

Thank you.

Apps have to be  designed & developed for incorporating the Microscope features & functionality?
