Ethanol is the main component of alcoholic beverages and gasoline fuel used in gas-powered vehicles (usually 10%).

Ethanol is also used in medical wipes and most commonly in antibacterial hand sanitizer gels as an antiseptic for its bactericidal and anti-fungal effects.

Apart from everyday uses, it's also used in the manufacturing industry as a precursor for other organic compounds such as ethyl halides, ethyl esters, diethyl ether, acetic acid, and ethyl amines.
