You have just changed your dramatic play center into a zoo. You've included many different stuffed animals and animal cages. You've also placed zoo posters in the center. However, the children are not using the center.
a) What might be the problem?
b) How could you remedy the problem? Be specific.

a) There may be different reasons that the children are not using the zoo center. They may have never visited a zoo and therefore be unfamiliar with what happens at a zoo. Additionally, there are limited props for the children to use to enact a zoo.
b) You could take the children to visit a zoo. While at the zoo allow the children to see the many different roles of zoo keepers such as feeding the animals, cleaning the cages, training the animals, and providing health care. You could then add props that would allow the children to perform the roles.
