What conditions need to be present in order to be diagnosed with a specific phobia?

▸ The feared object must be objectively dangerous but not likely to be present in daily life.

▸ Self-reported fear must pass a diagnostic threshold and be maintained for one year.

▸ The feared object must be listed in the DSM-5 and the person must consciously acknowledge the fear.
