Technology can be used in the planning stage of an Inquiry model lesson to conduct a pre-assessment, connect or collaborate with other teachers, support students during the learning process, and scaffold students during the learning process. More specifically, pre-assessments give students input on the learning process while providing teachers with important information about students' prior content knowledge, prerequisite knowledge and skills, as well as which groups they might work best in. Technology also can be used at the planning stage to help teachers to connect or collaborate with others, such as through online site like Curriki. In addition, technology can be used in the planning stage for teachers to plan how to scaffold student learning, such as by having students monitor their own progress via the website, "Assign-A-Day," or to demonstrate inquiry online via the website, "Showing Evidence." (From What Value Does Technology Add to the Inquiry Model?).
