A client has had difficulty achieving glycemic control with oral medications for Type 2 diabetes. Frustrated, the client says, "Isn't there some way to predict how my body will respond?" What is the nurse's best response?

▸ "No one has studied that."

▸ "Finding the correct medication and dose is a trial-and-error method."

▸ "Some studies have been done, but they are not large enough to guide our treatment decisions."

▸ "We are many years from having that kind of help from genetic studies."
