OER has been proved to improve student learning while removing financial and accessibility constraints. Feldstein et al. (2012) conducted a research study at Virginia State University, where OER were used in nine distinct business courses. Researchers discovered that students in classes that used OER more frequently had higher grade point averages and lower failure and withdrawal rates than their counterparts in non-OER courses.
The benefits of employing OERs include
increased access to learning - OERs are available to students anywhere in the world at any time, and they can access the material several times.
scalability - OERs are simple to disseminate broadly at little or no expense.
class materials supplementation - OERs can be used to augment textbooks and lectures where information is lacking.
regular course content enhancement Text - for example, can be accompanied by multimedia content such as videos. Presenting information in numerous formats may assist pupils in learning the content being taught more simply.
