Could there be benefits for India becoming a NATO member?

What is the eligibility criteria to become a Nato member?

Is it the current Nato members will vote in favour of including "India" and then the number of votes counted will be the final decision?

India is not eligible to join NATO because NATO is an alliance exclusively for North American and European members, as stated by the alliance themselves. NATO membership is open to "any other European state in a position to further the principles of this treaty and to contribute to the security of the North Atlantic area." India, however, is considered a non-NATO ally.
