Lifelessness occurs a lot in living species. For example, bacterial spores are essentially motionless and lifeless until favorable conditions are returned. Some species of frogs (such as the wood frog) hibernate in the winter by becoming completely frozen. They do not freeze totally solid, but they do freeze mostly solid. Two-thirds of their body water turns to ice. Again, when conditions become favorable, they revive. So, make sure to differentiate this notion of lifelessness versus death.
