Responses will vary. McDonaldization is a term commonly used to describe the homogenizing effects of globalization. According to George Ritzer, “the process by which the principles of the fast-food restaurant are coming to dominate more and more sectors of American society as well as of the rest of the world.” It is an extension of Weber’s concept of rationalization. McDonaldization has led to the expansion of the values of efficiency, calculability, and predictability to practically every aspect of life.
