In the 1930s, British economist John Maynard Keynes predicted that within 100 years the working week would be drastically cut, to perhaps 15 hours a week, with people choosing to have far more leisure as their material needs were satisfied. Even though we are fast approaching 2030, employees in Canada and many other countries work a minimum of 40 hours a week. What explains this state of affairs?
