There are two basic alternatives to testing negative balances when using MUS. First, the auditor may choose to ignore negative balances for MUS selection and test those amounts by some other means. Second, the auditor could treat the negative balances as positive and add them to the number of monetary units being tested. However, this complicates the evaluation process.
