A patient who received a kidney transplant 2 years ago has been diagnosed with chronic rejection of the graft. If this rejection is not effectively managed, what will happen?
1. The patient will have to take additional immunosuppressant drugs for up to 4 years.
2. The kidney will become ischemic and die.
3. Because it has taken 2 years for the rejection to occur, there will be little effect on the patient's health.
4. The patient will develop acute renal failure and will likely die.
