I have a student in class that would like to do some type of research on cockatiel DNA.  He currently owns 4 mating pairs.  I am far from a bird expert so I was reaching out to see if anyone had ideas of something he could study.
Thanks!

Depends on the course and assignment. As a fun research proposal, he/she could look at Cockatiel's digestive system, specifically the microbiomes found in their gut by analyzing their fecal matter.

Is this inline with what's expected?

Hi!
Thanks for the article...very interesting.  I will pass along to him.  From speaking with him, I think he wanted to do more with tracking of certain physical traits in generations, but not positive.

It's an interesting topic, for sure, but I think he picked the wrong animal to find genuine scientific journal articles for. You see, there really isn't much research on these particular animals, as pointed out below.

The only parrots with assembled genomes are those found in this table:

Does the research have to be from scientific journals?
