The two ideas of what a unified Germany should look like were the "Two-Plus-Four" plan and the "Two-State" solution. The "Two-Plus-Four" plan proposed that the two German states, East and West Germany, would be unified under a single government, while the "Two-State" solution proposed that the two German states would remain separate, but would cooperate in certain areas.
