Social stratification is a concept that describes how individuals and groups in society are categorized based on various factors like education, income, occupation, and race/ethnicity. Unfortunately, social stratification can lead to inequality and poverty, both in the United States and other parts of the world. In the United States, income inequality is a significant issue, and the wealthiest 1% own a considerable amount of the country's wealth. However, the United States also has a robust social welfare system that provides a safety net for those in need. While there is room for improvement, efforts are being made to address poverty and inequality, such as improving access to education, healthcare, and job opportunities. Similarly, in other parts of the world, social stratification can create inequality, particularly in developing countries where discrimination based on caste, tribe, or religion is prevalent. However, many organizations and governments are working to address these issues and promote greater social justice.
