Referring to following link, Taiwan pineapples carry harmful insect shell insects. I would like to know on whether it is safe to eat them or not, would stomach acid strong enough to kill any of those insect / worm? I also find similar news related to philippines pineapple as well
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance
" the inspection and quarantine department has recently detected 13 batches of Taiwan pineapples carrying harmful insect shell insects, including the new pineapple gray mealybug. Gray mealybugs can be vectors for diseases. If one is eaten, it will be digested by the stomach acids, but it may contain bacteria in its gut that may sustain the acid and carry through to the intestines.
