2 - 1 id really k how to do that the whole taking away thing i nvr understood so if u can explain that in simple terms ty that would help me plus also put some notes down for me to understand better but this is i think its gonna be 7 by taking 3 from the 3 i already have so that turns to nothing theres no more there so then it would be the final answer...
2 7/12 am i correct did i do the math right?

It appears that you are trying to subtract 1 from 2 3/4. When you subtract a number that is larger than what you are subtracting from, you need to borrow from the next digit to the left.
So, for 2 3/4 - 1, you would need to borrow 1 from the whole number 2, which would become 1. The 2 would become 12/4.
Then, you would have 12/4 - 1/4, which equals 11/4.
Therefore, the answer to 2 3/4 - 1 is 1 11/4 or 5/4.
