Efficiency is defined as the ratio of the output work to the input energy, expressed as a percentage. In this case, the machine does 2500 Joules of work using an input of 5000 Joules. Therefore, the efficiency of the machine is:
Efficiency = (Output work/Input energy) x 100%
Efficiency = (2500/5000) x 100%
Efficiency = 50%
So the efficiency of the machine is 50%.
