Could someone fill me in on what the 12 cranial nerves are and if there is a pneumic to make it easier, that would be great.  Thanks

The cranial nerves are:

I - Olfactory nerve
II - Optic nerve
III - Oculomotor nerve
IV - Trochlear nerve/pathic nerve
V - Trigeminal nerve/dentist nerve
VI - Abducens nerve
VII - Facial nerve
VIII - Vestibulocochlear nerve/Auditory nerve
IX - Glossopharyngeal nerve
X - Vagus nerve
XI - Accessory nerve/Spinal accessory nerve
XII - Hypoglossal nerve

A mnemonic uses, at the least, the first letter of each of the 12 nerves, in order.

Excellent resource!

Untitled 1
Cranial Nerves
Number Name Function Location
I Olfactory Nerve Smell
II Optic Nerve Vision
III Oculomotor Nerve Eye movement; pupil constriction
IV Trochlear Nerve Eye movement
V Trigeminal Nerve Somatosensory information (touch, pain) from the face and head; muscles for chewing.
VI Abducens Nerve Eye movement
VII Facial Nerve Taste (anterior 2/3 of tongue); somatosensory information from ear; controls muscles used in facial expression.
VIII Vestibulocochlear Nerve Hearing; balance
IX Glossopharyngeal Nerve Taste (posterior 1/3 of tongue); Somatosensory information from tongue, tonsil, pharynx; controls some muscles used in swallowing.
X Vagus Nerve Sensory, motor and autonomic functions of viscera (glands, digestion, heart rate)
XI Spinal Accessory Nerve Controls muscles used in head movement.
XII Hypoglossal Nerve Controls muscles of tongue
Note: the olfactory "nerve" is composed of the rootlets of olfactory hair cells in the nasal mucosa and is not visible on the ventral surface of the brain. The rootlets end in the olfactory bulb. The olfactory tract contains nerve fibers projecting out of the olfactory bulb to the brain.

3. Oculomotor - eyelid and eyeball movement
4. Trochlear - innervates superior oblique
turns eye downward and laterally
5. Trigeminal - chewing
face & mouth touch & pain
6. Abducens - turns eye laterally
7. Facial - controls most facial expressions
secretion of tears & saliva
taste
8. Vestibulocochlear - hearing
equillibrium sensation
(auditory)
9. Glossopharyngeal - taste
senses carotid blood pressure
10. Vagus - senses aortic blood pressure
slows heart rate
stimulates digestive organs
taste
11. Spinal Accessory - controls trapezius & sternocleidomastoid
controls swallowing movements
12. Hypoglossal - controls tongue movements

better yet, ill put their main functions
