Imagine that Ray and Sahleena were a couple. Robert Sternberg’s research indicates that Ray’s love for Sahleena is described as infatuated love, whereas Sahleena’s love for Ray is described as companionate love. Based on Sternberg’s triarchic theory of love, will this relationship work? Why or why not?

According to Sternberg’s research, this relationship will probably not work. Ray’s love focuses on passion whereas Sahleena’s love focuses on commitment and intimacy. Based on the triarchic theory of love, their “love triangles” do not match because they seem to want different things from the relationship.
