Much future renewable energy development depends in part on the future world price of oil and natural gas. How “predictable” is the future oil price? Go to www.eia.gov and determine how the government projects the world price of oil. Some have argued that oil-producing countries could sabotage the development of renewable energy by periodically dropping the price low enough to render renewables “uncompetitive” with oil. Is this a reasonable possibility? Why or why not?
