As mentioned above, you may teach a variety of social science classes and perhaps some statistics (if you have attained a B.S. in Sociology and have a teaching certificate) at the high school level.  If you have an M.A. or M.S. in Sociology you may work in a variety of different occupations, e.g., the legal field or the medical field.  In addition, there are many lucrative teaching jobs available throughout the world.  If you are a true Sociologist, then, leaving your family and familiar surroundings should not bother you.  Many individuals with Sociology degrees, from the top schools, enjoy incomes of over $100,000 annually.  There are many positions available in the government for someone who understands survey techniques, statistics, and social research methodology.  At the PhD level university teaching and research positions are possible.

Many who achieve a degree in Sociology go on to obtain law degrees.  It is one of the doorways.
