What is NOT the difference between Vygotsky’s and Piaget’s theories:
1) Active versus passive learning
   2) Continuous vs. discontinuous model of development
   3) Individual constructivism vs. social constructivism

   4)   Nature is central (development cannot be accelerated) vs. nurture is central (development can be accelerated by interactions with more capable others)

There are other differences, while piaget was an organismic theorist, more on the side of genetic and biological factors, and Vygotsky is more to the social interaction side. Piaget's work was based on stages of what a child would behave like from birth to through teens, Vygotsky had actual concepts on what a child would behave like in a situation, for example scaffolding is when a teacher uses a technique and gives the student only what they need to solve the problem and no more help.
