What happens to light energy once a plant has collected it?  What type of chemical reaction takes place?  How is the energy stored?

the plant uses not only the light energy but also many more things like water, nitrogen, CO2 etc n carries out the process of photosynthesis n makes food for itself

there are certain reactions that only occur in presence of light, therefore light is needed by the plant.
