Hemophilia is an X-linked recessive disorder. A male hemophilic wants to marry and have children but is concerned about passing this disease to the offspring. Conduct three crosses with the three possible genotypes present in women listing the F1 phenotypes, genotypes and their corresponding ratios. Which mate is clearly the best? Will all of his potential grandchildren be safe from this disease even with the best mate?

Define the symbols:
XH - normal
Xh - hemophilia
Y0 - does not have the allele

So, according to this, the man is: XhY0

Woman one: XhXh HEMOPHILIAC
Woman two: XHXh NOT HEMOPHILIAC
Woman Three: XHXH NOT HEMOPHILIAC

I will show you woman one mated to this man who is hemophiliac.

            Xh    Y0
Xh       XhXh XhY0
Xh       XhXh  XhY0

All will be Hemophilic; 2 boys and 2 girls.

Remember, if you have at least 1 normal gene, you will show normality, not hemophiliac!
