If k is a positive integer and the tens digit of k+5 is 4,then what is the tens digit of k

1) k > 35
2) The units digit of k > 5

Can this question be answered using either 1) or 2) and not using both.
The answer needs to be solved using option 2) alone.Please help

possible solutions to the question are 3, if k is 36 - 39, and 4, if k is 40 - 44

hint #1 does not tell you anything new.
hint #2 however reduces the possible answers to 36 - 39 and thus makes it possible to answer the question.
