Explain how to find the "open circuit voltage" of the battery.  You will explain in words (by explaining your equations) how you calculate the internal voltage of the battery.  Remember, you reader must be shown why Vb=Vm.

How do I do this?  I have to show a diagram as well.  What equation would I use?  The easiest way I know how to do this is use a voltmeter.

Measure the voltage of the battery with no loads connected, with the voltmeter. That is it, no equations, no more words.

If you can't use a meter, then the only way out is via chemistry, to calculate the theoretical voltage of the cells. see reference

An equivalent circuit for a battery can be made by an ideal battery in series with a resistor (the resistor is for the internal resistance). The open circuit voltage will be the same as the ideal battery since there is no current to cause a voltage drop across the internal resistor.
