There are two divisions:

Sympathetic

The preganglionic bodies of the sympathetic system are present in the intermediolateral horn of the spinal cord. These ganglia are present next to the spine and consist of the vertebral and prevertebral ganglia. These include the celiac, superior mesenteric, aorticorenal ganglia, superior cervical, and inferior mesenteric. Long fibers run from these ganglia to effector organs like:

Heart
pupils
lungs
scalp
smooth muscle of blood vessels
viscera

Parasympathetic

The preganglionic bodies of the parasympathetic system are present in the brain stem and the sacral portion of the spinal cord. The parasympathetic ganglia are located within the effector organs The postganglionic fibers are only 1 or 2 mm long. Thus, the parasympathetic system is able to produce specific, localized responses in effector organs. The effector organs include:

Lacrimal glands
salivary glands
neck
blood vessels of the head
thoracoabdominal viscera
smooth muscle of glands and viscera
ocular muscles.

Dual innervation is when an organ in the body receives stimuli from both the parasympathetic and the sympathetic systems.
