Introns are the intrusive segments edited out when the RNA is spliced to become the mature mRNA for export out of the nucleus where it is translated for protein synthesis.

Think EXons are EXpressed.
Meaning they are the coding region

So introns are the other part, the non coding region!

Introns are the region of the gene where they are not expressed. Exons are EXpressed. introns are not. hope it helps!
