1. Two scientist produce two different cladograms for the same groups of organisms. Explain how the differences are possible.
2. Describe how to make a cladogram. Include the types of characters that are used and the judgments you must make about the characters.
3. Summarize how biochemical character can be used to determine phylogeny.
4. Differentiate between the typological species concept and the phylogenetic species concept.
5. Decide how should molecular clocks be used if not all mutations occur at the same rate? Should they be considered reliable evidence of phylogeny? Explain your answer.

1. Two scientist produce two different cladograms for the same groups of organisms. Explain how the differences are possible.

It is believed that all organisms derived from a common ancestor, and a cladogram shows the characteristics that the organisms have acquired or lost (evolutionary relationships) throughout time that gave rise to different species.

3. Summarize how biochemical character can be used to determine phylogeny.

Comparisons of the similarities and differences between DNA in two groups serves to establish homologous relationships. Further, since DNA comes from an animal's ancestors, we can begin to establish the ancestral relationships of these animals.

4. Differentiate between the typological species concept and the phylogenetic species concept.

Typological defines organisms based on physical similarities while phylogenetic defines them in terms of populations and ancestry.
When you like a flower, you just pluck it out.
But when you love a flower, you water it daily.
The one who understands this, understands life.

- That's the difference between I like you and I love you.
