These words relate to eukaryotic cells.

Pre-mRNA is the mRNA that is transcribed right away, it is unmodified so it contains both introns and exons.

Post-mRNA is the modified mRNA that has been slice to contain only exons and a poly-A tail has been added, along with 5' cap
