4... Meningococcemia follows an infection with Neisseria meningitidis. N. meningitidis is transmitted through airborne droplets; thus, the child should be placed in a private room in respiratory isolation. A private room with protective isolation (child is essentially kept in a “bubble”) would not be appropriate.
