In answering this question, consider the difference between osmosis and facilitated diffusion.

(A) is obviously wrong, since a CHANNEL protein is obviously acting as a facilitator to move something (that's what a channel does, right? it's a passage for something).

(C) has to be wrong. Transport proteins don't identify anything.

(D) This is done by osmosis and a concentration gradient, which does not need facilitators.

Process of elimination declares (B) is correct and I concur. Macromolecules need facilitation to move through the plasma membrane, and that's what the lipoproteins are for. Slight Smile
