d) is the answer as during mitosis/ meiosis the chromosome pairs line up along the equator of the cell and ready to be split to either side of the cell for 2 identical cells in mitosis or 4 gametes in meiosis.

The person above is incorrect, the chromosomes are already replicated by the time they line up at the centre. [Metaphase in Meiosis & Mitosis]

The correct answer is E. The nucleus makes the DNA which has information to make the proteins/tells the cell what to do with the proteins
