For a 100 g solution,
mol HCl = (3.5 g)(mol / 36.5 g) = 0.09589 mol HCl

mol H2O = (100 g - 3.5 g)(mol / 18 g) = 5.361 mol H2O

mole fraction = (0.09589 mol HCl) /(0.09589 mol HCl + 5.361 mol H2O) = 0.0176
