So, I've been studying up on Punctuate Equilibrium, and I've come across a bit of a jiffy. I understand that there is a rapid evolution of species, either from significant change in the environment, or a new prey, etc. But I don't understand how this rapid evolution happens without the species entirely going extinct. Wouldn't the species die out before they could adapt enough? Thanks in advance.
