Why do you need a lot of dna to run a RFLP or a southern blot compared to a pcr where you need very little dna? Is it because in order to visualize on a GEL you need thousands of copies? When you are using a radiolabeled nucleic acid probe in southern blot, why the need for so many copies on the gel since it's radiolabled? Couldn't you visualize it with very little dna on the gel since it's radiolabled?
