In the IGCSE syllabus, we are required to be able to state the functions of arteries and veins (which i can), but also the function of arterioles and venules..... To my understanding, arteries split up into arterioles and venules join back up to veins, hence they have identical functions... Did I miss anything?
Thanks in advance. Smiling Face with Open Mouth

you are right on the money. That is exactly what they do. Structurally arterioles contain more smooth muscle than arteries do since there is less pressure. But you have the basic concepts down. Difference in functions would be just where they are bringing the blood. Arterioles bring it to the capillaries and venules will bring it back into the heart.
