Here is what I think

The symbolic interaction approach explains that people act towards situations based on the way they view them.

By use of symbols such as face to face interaction, behaviour, beliefs, relationship between the parts of society and competition between scares resources (believe rich and powerful people force social order on the poor and the weak).
If a job or family is important they will do the best they can in those social patterns.
