Law enforcement officers use of force is unusual, although sometimes seen as necessary in an active arrest or detention. In some uncommon cases, some police officers manhandle their energy with the utilization of over the top use of power called use of force, abuse of power on people is an upcoming issue. It is being said that police are taught to use force as a device to diffuse a situation or under certain circumstance. Officers are not considering what the impact is it has on the casualty, the affirmed culprit or the group that it happens in because the use of force they incorporate is not intended to hurt anyone (FBI, n.d.).

In today's society the use of cell phones are regularly catching the use of power whether warranted or not that law enforcement are commonly utilized against the citizen within the community. More and more these videos are capturing moments when the utilization of authority turns south and it appears that the police officer is doing something wrong or abusing their power for instance the cases that have came out of Ferguson. But are their actions truly unethical or is it suppose to appear like that. According to the National Institute of Justice described in Prnewswire, (n.d) the use of authority is when police exert forceful measures when attempt to attain an unwilling subject. The way an officer can utilize power is verbal; calling someone out of their name, physical-restriction; not intending to arrest but holding someone down, less-deadly drive, and when significant deadly compel (prnewswire, n.d). Example of this we have heard many times, an officer is use to seeing a person on the corner. Person was caught twice having drugs or a firearm on them, now every time that person is seen by that cop he is labeled trouble.

The framework of criminal equity is intended to implement moral, and ethical decision making that have been built into the criminal law. Open observation of acts by law enforcement agencies continually battle with what type of consequence are handed out for unethical behavior. A few alternatives accessible to law requirement to manage these issues of using unnecessary force that are more reasonable than others. These controversies between the police and minorities can be discussed and analysis to revealed a general need for a better community understanding and more police training with scenario based topics. Readdress the policy with each officer on the use of force.

The type of policies that law enforcement administrators can implement to minimize the chances of officers unnecessarily utilizing excessive use of force. One of the most important would be to clearly outline the departments philosophy of policing, with that what does the department believe in or stand for (Peak, 2012). Especially if the policies for unnecessary use of force are impeding the discretion necessary for officers to effectively carryout their duties. A clearly developed mission statement which will describe the fundamentals of the organization and the roles within it. More interaction with or having the community interact with the force more, build a relationship with those you are suppose to protect. Working relationships between police and community are an advantage to all and are received as more effective practices when reinforcing the law if done correctly (Sunahara, n.d.).
