1,2,3 -- On initial assessment of a patient with a diagnosis of obesity, the nurse will gather supplies which include a scale for weighing the patient, skinfold calipers for assessing body fat, and a calculator for determining body mass index and ideal body weight. A glucose meter and supplies for blood draw may be needed eventually but are not indicated on initial assessment.
