Just to clarify, HDL is high-density lipoprotein, also known as "good" cholesterol, and LDL is low-density lipoprotein, also known as "bad" cholesterol.

Also, I'm not looking for diet advice; I just need this information for a biology assignment.

Both nature and nurture play a part in the overall level of LDLs in blood streams. Nature meaning genetics and nurture meaning diet plus exercise.
