Hi, I need help with a Chemistry Lab question.  It asks to suggest a simple laboratory test to distinguish between acetone, carbon tetrachloride, cyclohexne, ethyl ether, and ethanol.

If you mean they are in a mix, then Gas Chromatography. If you mean you have a liquid that could be one of them, then  Infrared Spectroscopy might work with a very experienced chemist, or NMR would be simpler and surer.
