resistance arose in these populations because:
A. individual mosquitos build up immunity to the pesticides after exposure
B. populations had to develop tolerance in order to survive
C. these populations were outside the range of the original pesticide applications
D. some individuals were resistant to the pesticides before they were used, and those mosquitos were more likely to survive and reproduce
E. the pesticides caused mutations in the DNA of mosquitoes that conferred resistance phenotypes, and were passed on to subsequent generations

They had to develop tolerance to the pesticides or their population would cese and no more mosquitos!
they may not seem tat important, but they do their part for the earth. w/out them who knows what would happen. so its B
