"According to a will, an estate is to be divided among 2 children and 2 grandchildren. Each grandchild is to receive half the amount 'c' that each child receives from the estate. What is the total vale of the estate?"

You have to write an algebraic expression then simplify.

Each child receives c amount and each grandchild receives c/2 amount.
So 2(c)+2(c/2) = 2c+c = 3c

c+c+c/2+c/2 = 3c
Therefore total value of estate = 3c   Ans
