call the two number x and y
xy=288
x=288/y

2x+y=min
2(288/y)+y=min
576/y+y=min
take the derivative
-576/y^2+1=0
-576/y^2=-1
576=y^2
y=24

xy=288
24x=288
x=12

Let one number be x.  Then the second is 288/x.
Minimize sum = 2*x + 288/x
f'(x) = 2 - 288/x^2 = 0
x = 12 or -12
You specified positive, so the numbers are 12 and 24
