Considering the nature of Listeria moncytogenes, why can’t you simply run an anti-Listeria antibody screen to determine infection with this pathogen?

I know that the pathogen has an intracellular life cycle so Is this the reason the anitbody screen wont work?

From what I remember, L. moncytogenes prevents an immune response from developing by escaping MHC class II presentation on antigen-presenting cells (look at the diagram below). As a result, the bacteria never gets digested inside the B-cells and dendritic cells that ingest it in order for its antigens to be presented.
