First is the awareness stage, when the consumer learns about the brand for the first time.  Second is the comprehension stage, where the consumer expresses interest.  Third is the conviction stage, when the brand becomes a preferred brand.  Fourth is the action stage, when the brand is purchased. 
Examples will vary.
